Product Review: PeapodMats
I love buying and testing new products to help make my parenting journey a little easier. When I was a brand new parent, there were things that I imagined myself doing with my kids…feeding, diaper changes, scrubbing out stains, etc.. Changing sheets every morning wasn’t something I ever thought I would be doing. Especially considering I don’t even change my own sheets daily…but here we were - changing wet sheets since the overnight pull-ups/diapers didn’t seem to be absorbent enough.
Believe me, I’ve tried every diaper and pull-up brand out there at my local grocery stores, and I have found that when my kiddos were small enough, Huggies Overnites were absolutely the most absorbent overnight diaper. Once we moved onto overnight pull-ups, the sizing ranges were much bigger, and I found that unless your child fit the size perfectly, they would leak. I’ve found that between the 2 most popular overnight pull-up brands, Ninjamas (Pampers) or Goodnites (Huggies), Goodnites are more absorbent. It’s something about Huggies - they’re the superior diaper lol!!
However, pairing Huggie Goodnites with minimal liquids before bed, peeing during the bedtime routine, and even waking up my child to pee before I went to bed, but my oldest was still leaking through onto his sheets by the time morning came. I do think that part of the reason is because he is such a deep sleeper, plus he’s in bed for so long (12 hours seems like forever!), and I have read that boys sometimes take longer to stay dry throughout the night. We had started using the Goodnites Disposable Mats to stick onto his bed to avoid getting his sheets wet, and I had absolutely no complaints about those - except it was starting to get pricey!
I kept seeing Facebook Ads for PeapodMats and figured, why not? I’ve tried everything else.
So after using the PeapodMat for 3 weeks now, I have a great review to write. I should also note - I am not sponsored by PeapodMats, I purchased my mat for full price, and this review is purely because I want to support their business.
Here are the pros of the PeapodMat:
Size Options:
I love the option of choosing different sizes depending on the size of your child’s sleep space. As a sleep consultant, I don’t recommend anything in the crib until your child is 12 months old, so once your child is 1 and you potentially need a leakproof solution for their crib, one of these mats would be the perfect fit.Easy to Clean:
The PeapodMat has a life expectancy of 500 washes! I’ve washed mine a handful of times already and it always comes out smelling clean and fresh. Somehow the fabric even feels softer once washed?? I always keep a mattress protector overtop of our mattresses, and I have found that those are not 100% leakproof and sometimes they don’t even clean well. But, the PeapodMat cleans wonderfully!Stays Put:
The fabric on the bottom-side of the mat feels similar to a microfibre towel - sort of grippy. The impressive thing is that even with a wiggly kid, the mat stays put all night long. If I do need to wash it, when I go to take it off the bed, it’s still in the original position I had it in the night before. Love.Comfortable:
I wasn’t sure if I would love the material when I first pulled the product out of the box…it felt like a towel and I knew that I wouldn’t necessarily want to sleep on that. But if I was thinking logically, I knew that a soft bamboo mat wouldn’t have the absorbancy that I needed, so towel-like material it is! After a few nights I asked my son what he thought of the mat and he said “I love it, it feels soft and warm!” Needless to say, it is 6-year-old approved!Dry:
The material on the mat feels similar to a soft towel, so even when we did have a leak through the overnight pull-up, my son wasn’t waking up soaked and cold. The material somehow kept him feeling dry and much more comfortable overnight.Capacity:
The PeapodMat website says that the large mat (the one we bought) has the capacity to hold up to 6 cups of liquid. While my kiddo is surely not peeing that much, it’s comforting knowing that this mat is 100% leakproof!Canadian:
I LOVE supporting a Canadian business. It seems rare to find businesses that originate in Canada and when I do find one, I celebrate! Since their warehouse is in Canada as well, they are able to provide free Canada-wide shipping - bonus!
As much as I love using the PeapodMat, I do have 2 cons…
Drying:
While the mat can be washed and dried at home, I have found that sometimes the mat will require a double-dry in my dryer, or else I will need to hang-dry it for 1-2 hours after it comes out of the dryer. It just seems to come out slightly damp. That being said, my mattress protectors also come out slightly damp, so I don’t think it’s specific to this product. It’s just the nature of having a product that is designed to absorb liquid…it obviously takes longer to dry.No Affiliate Program:
When brands have a great product, having an affiliate program can bring in SO MUCH MORE business as influencers, smaller brands, and professionals promote their product. I know that I am much more inclined to buy/try a new product if I have a $10 off coupon, or a discount code for 10% off of my order. I also love promoting products to my clients and followers if I have a discount code for them to try. It’s hard to just trust someone’s opinion when there are so many products out there that may or may not work for your individual family. I would highly highly recommend an affiliate program to PeapodMats and I will try to get a code - whether it’s just for a single day lol!!
But seriously, that’s it!
The PeapodMat would be great to use for mom’s who are nearing the end of their pregnancy and are worried about their water breaking in bed and ruining the mattress. Heck, even for heavy-flow days during your period - this mat would be perfect.
So whether you are buying it for your child, or just for you, the PeapodMat is something I would recommend to any family!! I think that price-point is very fair, plus you absolutely get your money’s worth out of this product. Highly, highly recommend.
