SlumberPod 3.0 Review
I love testing out and trying new baby items. From baby sheets, to noise machines, and especially SlumberPods. I consider myself a SlumberPod Collector. I have 6 now that I’ve purchased and we use them all the time. Play forts, room sharing (which we do with my 6-month old), travelling, and so much more.
I was so excited to see the launch of the newest SlumberPod - SlumberPod 3.0.
If you have no idea what a SlumberPod even is, it’s basically a blacked out pod that fits like a dome perfectly over a bassinet, a mini crib, a toddler cot, or a playpen. It has poles that attach to the outside of the fabric to make for an easy set-up, and no zipper pulls inside the pod to make sure your escape-artist stays put.
The SlumberPod 3.0 has a couple of new and improved features.
Here they are:
No zipper for the monitor pouch. There is a pouch on the top of the SlumberPod that can house a video monitor for an easy visual of your baby while they’re asleep. One problem with the pouch before, was that there was a zipper to close it and that zipper often altered the view of your monitor because it would pull the cord. It was hard to get a clean visual through your monitor before if the zipper was closed all the way - so many parents would leave the zipper open, which then let some light into the Pod which wasn’t ideal.
SlumberPod 3.0 now has a flap of extra fabric over where the baby monitor inserts. This means that once you position your baby monitor inside, it won’t wiggle around as you take your hand out.Extra Top Pouch for the Fan (or noise machine). SlumberPod released a fan with their 2.0 version, and this helps circulate the air inside the pod while your child is asleep. The fan is not a necessary additive, but it does give parents peace-of-mind that their child isn’t too warm while asleep inside the pod. The SlumberPod 3.0 has a new top pouch to house the fan, but if you don’t even have a fan for your pod, then this is a great place to put the sound machine. It is the same type of pouch that the baby monitor goes into (fabric flap, no zipper).
Larger Carry Bag. One of the main changes I was looking forward to with this new product release was a larger carry bag to house the SlumberPod and it’s poles. I find it hard to roll it tight enough to fit into the tiny bag it came with before. Now, the new 3.0 bag is bigger to allow for a looser ‘roll’ of the fabric when putting it away.
While these changes aren’t major, they are so helpful. If I had to choose between buying a SlumberPod 2.0 or a SlumberPod 3.0, the 3.0 would definitely have my money.
