Product Review: The SlumberTot

The SlumberTot has made its debut! SlumberPod has been a fan-favourite for years now, and they haven’t tried too many other products since their inception. They started out with just the regular SlumberPod, then they introduced a SlumberPet (discontinued), then a SlumberPod with a fan, new SlumberPod colours, the HomeBase (discontinued), and finally - the SLUMBERTOT.

Because I am one of their top-producing Canadian Affiliates, they sent me a SlumberTot to review for you guys! Honestly, I already feel a little biased because I love SlumberPod so much, but I promise to be real with you guys about the SlumberTot.

First things first, unlike the SlumberPod which can feel a little daunting to set up when taken out of the bag, the SlumberTot is very straight forward. If you’ve ever been camping before, you know what I mean. The SlumberTot comes in 2 pieces with an electric pump that blows up the mattress. Setting it up was easy - it took maybe 2 minutes to blow up the pieces with the pump and then fit them together. The longest part of the process would be to set up a SlumberPot overtop of the Tot, but that only takes ~5 minutes anyway.

Here are a few things I noticed right away and loved:

  1. I love that they include a bag to hold all of the parts together. This makes packing this in your luggage super easy.

  2. I really liked how easy it was to set up. I love that they don’t expect you to blow up the mattress with your own air and that they include the electric pump with each order.

  3. I think the colour scheme is cute!

  4. I had my almost 3-year old lay in it and she thought it was pretty great. It was a great length for her while she was laying, and with the raised borders, I knew she wouldn’t be able to roll off of the bed in her sleep.

  5. It seems way more comfortable than a travel cot that I’ve used for my toddler before. That cot was very convenient, but it had zero padding so I couldn’t imagine it being all-that comfortable to sleep on all night. The SlumberTot has a decent amount of padding and it seems quite comfortable.

  6. Super simple take-down. Unlike other air mattresses I’ve pumped up before, the SlumberTot has a bigger hole opening to let the air out, and it comes out quick because of this opening. SO convenient for a quick packing job. I loved not needing to lay all over the mattress to let the air out - again, if you’ve ever been camping, iykyk.

Here are a few things I noticed that may be problematic:

  1. Air mattresses are notorious for holes, however SlumberTot does actually include a patching kit for the mattress (so smart because, KIDS).

  2. The electric pump got quite warm by the time I was done pumping up both parts of the SlumberTot. I think it’s just because it’s little. I don’t think it would be able to pump up 2 SlumberTots back-to-back without needing a break. Not a huge deal, but something to keep in mind.

  3. They advertise that it’s for kiddos in the 2-6 year age range, but I know my 6-year old is way too long for it. Granted, my 6-year old is quite tall, but it seems more appropriate for kids in the 2-4 year age range. I am all about maximizing the usage of my SlumberPods, but I just wonder if realistically, a 6-year old would actually be able to use this.

All in all, I am quite impressed. I think the functionality is quite amazing, and the product feels like great quality. I have worked as a SlumberPod affiliate for 4.5 years now, and I know how committed they are to their customer service and the quality of their products.

As a consumer and a sleep consultant, I would absolutely purchase this product to use once my kids are transitioned out of the pack n play while we travel. It folds up quite small, it’s easy to pack, it sets up so fast, and I know my kids would be safe and comfortable while using it.
